Training:

Puppy Pre-School Class
Cost $35 (4 weeks)

We offer a Puppy Pre-School for dogs aged 12 weeks. This class focuses on socialization activities so that puppies feel comfortable around a variety of people and dogs. They are also prepared for experiences such as visits to the vet and grooming. Puppies are introduced to basic obedience which prepares them to  move into the Beginners class once they reach 4 months of age if so desired.

Beginners Class
Cost $55  (8 weeks)
($25 if progressed from Puppy Class)

An 8 week Beginners course commences at the beginning of each month (with the final course for each year commencing in October and a midweek twilight course being offered in January). This course will guide you through the basics of dog obedience including correct use of training equipment, heeling, sitting, standing, dropping, staying and the recall.

Grading System & Tests
Ongoing training Sessions
$2 for a 1 hour session

As you and your dog learn more it is possible to progress up through the grades by passing the tests which are usually held at the end of each month.  Grades currently progress from Grade 1 to Grade 4.  This is achieved by participating in weekly sessions of one hour designed to reinforce the basic skills learned in the Beginners Class as well as develop new skills as you and your dog progress through the grades.

Obedience Trials

Three times a year the club conducts T.C.A. sanctioned obedience trials.  Dogs must be registered with the T.C.A. in order to compete in these trials.

Obedience trials arc divided into 5 classes Community Companion, Novice, Open and 2 Utility classes. Dogs must qualify for 3 passes at their level in order to attain an obedience title:

C.C.D. Community Companion Dog
C.D. Companion Dog (Novice),
C.D.X. Companion Dog Excellent (Open)  &
U.D. Utility Dog (Utility).
U.D.X. Utility Dog Excellent

Titles become part of the dog's official pedigree.

The club has the knowledge and equipment necessary for handlers to train their dogs to obedience trial standard.
