Purpose

The idea of Obedience Trials is to demonstrate the usefulness of the dog as the
companion and guardian of man and not the ability of the dog to acquire facility in the
performance of mere tricks. The classification which has been adopted is progressive
with the thought in mind that a dog which has been granted the title of OBEDIENCE
CHAMPION has demonstrated its fitness for a place in our modern scheme of living.

Obedience Trials Conducted by TDTC

The club conducts 3 Tasmanian Canine Association (T.C.A.) sanctioned obedience trials each year. Dogs must be registered with the T.C.A. in order to compete in these trials.  Pedigree and non pedigree dogs are able to compete in trials however non pedigree dogs would need to be registered with the TCA on the Associate Register (desexing required to register)

The club has the knowledge and equipment necessary for handlers to train their dogs to obedience trial standard.

 

Classes

Obedience trials are divided into the following classes Titles become part of the dog's official pedigree:

C.C.D Community Companion Dog For dogs, six months of age or over, and of either sex which are not

eligible for the title of Community Companion Dog (C.C.D.). Under no circumstances except where an application for a C.C.D. Title has been rejected on a technicality, shall a dog, which has gained a qualifying score in a Novice Class, be eligible to compete in the Community Companion Dog Class. A dog is not permitted to compete in the Community Companion Dog Class and a Novice Class at the same trial.

3 qualifying scores of 75 or more points 
C.D. Companion Dog (novice) For dogs, six months of age or over, and of either sex which are not eligible for the title of Companion Dog' (C.D.). Under no circumstances except where an application for a C.D. Title has been rejected on a technicality, shall a dog which has competed in an Open Class be eligible to compete in the Novice
Class.

3 qualifying scores of 170 or more points
'C.D.X. Companion Dog Excellent (open) For dogs of either sex, which have qualified for the title of
'Companion Dog' (C.D.) in Novice Class

3 qualifying scores of 170 or more points
'U.D Utility Dog

For dogs of either sex, which have qualified for the title of 'Companion Dog Excellent' (C.D.X) in Open Class.

3 qualifying scores of 170 or more points 
U.D.X. Utility Dog Excellent

For dogs of either sex, which have qualified for the title of ‘Utility Dog (U.D.) in Utility Class.

3 qualifying scores of 170 or more points

 

 Successful completion of requirement for each of the classes entitles you to apply for the relevant title.
