Grade 1 Activities and Assessment
"Class Content to be redeveloped for 2011"
Expected Duration: 4 – 8 weeks
All exercises on lead
Over the 4 weeks introduce the following Obedience Exercises:
- Pivot left about turn
- Change of pace ie slow/fast
- Down from the walk (no sit)
- Stand for examination - handler beside dog
- Come-fors” – ie heel along go into reverse, call dog and bring to sit in front
- Extend stays 1 minute sit, 2 minute down, dogs 2 m apart
- Concentrate on loose leads, no jerk when starting to heel
- Basic recall - no finish
- Return around back of dog in stays
Other Activities that may be utilised for variety:
- basic low impact agility exercises
- tunnels
- spread hurdles
- low jumps
- Rally-O elements
- Not full courses
- exercises will add some variety
Grade 1 Assessment
- Heel on lead
2 each - sit, stand, drop
right/left turns, right/left about turns
change of pace
- Stand Stay on lead
Handler at end of lead – return around back
Judge circles dog at 2 metres
Voice encouragement allowed
- Stand for Examination
Handler beside dog
Voice encouragement & correction allowed
- Recall on Lead
Handler at end of lead – run back at least 3 metres
Return around back
Voice encouragement & minimum correction allowed
