NORTHERN athlete Kelly Binns has won the first gold medal for Tasmania at the Special Olympic World Summer Games in Athens.
Binns and partner Jodie Greenwood won the doubles tennis gold medal on Wednesday against Spain.
Adding to a day of great performance, Binns also won her singles match against Netherlands.
On the track, Glenn Patterson, of Longford, and Katie Wheeldon, also from the North, recorded personal best in their 400 metre finals. Wheeldon finished fourth and Patterson was seventh.
Perth's Tim Beattie continued his record strong performances in the pool and placed seventh in his 400m final.
In tenpin bowling, Northern athlete Lynn Tanner was fifth in her singles final yesterday.
Competition will continue today with the first ever open water swim, which will see Tasmania's Josh Timbs swim 1500m in the Mediterranean Sea.

Congratulations to Kelly
Thanks for sharing this information. I really like your way of expressing the opinions and sharing the information. It is good to move as chance bring new things in life, paves the way for advancement, etc. But it is well known to everyone that moving to new location with bulk of goods is not an easy task to move or shift from one place to other place because I have experienced about that and I face the problem like that. There I go to village near to my city faced that problem there.
